ACQUIRED RESISTANCE TO TREATMENT WITH ARVIN
The Lancet, 1969Abstract 2 patients who underwent therapeutic defibrination with ' Arvin ' were found to be refractory to a second course of treatment. Plasma from both neutralised the clotting effect of arvin added in vitro, and a similar abnormality was observed in 2 of 14 other plasma-samples. Resistance to arvin has been demonstrated in 3 of 4 patients treated by

Mechanisms of acquired resistance to cisplatin
1994Since the discovery of the antitumor activity in rodents of cisplatin (cis-diamminedichloroplatinum(II)) in 1968 [1], the use of this drug in treating human disease has grown to the point where it is now one of the most widely used antineoplastics. Cisplatin has an established role in the treatment of testicular, ovarian, bladder, germ cell, and head ...

Cross-resistance to cisplatin in cells with acquired resistance to copper
Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, 2004Cells selected for resistance to cisplatin (DDP) demonstrate cross-resistance to copper (Cu) suggesting one or more common mechanisms of cellular defense. We sought to determine whether cells selected for resistance to Cu are cross-resistant to DDP.Parental HuH7 human hepatoma cells and the CuR27 Cu-resistant subline were compared for sensitivity to Cu

Hartley and C4-deficient guinea pigs developed resistance to the ixodid tick. Dermacentor andersoni, after one infestation. Resistance was characterized by resistant animals of both groups allowing significantly fewer larvae (5--25%) to engorge during a second infestation than during an initial infestation (70--90%).

In the previous chapter, I deconstructed the neoliberal myth of progress that undergirds global capitalism by framing my religious critique around notions of crisis, redemption, and hope. This narrative of progress asserts a false hope, which is grounded in the promise of material abundance and well-being for all. However, this promise has fallen short.

Acquired resistance to immunotherapy in solid tumors
Trends in Molecular MedicineAcquired resistance to immunotherapy (ARI) is a major challenge in solid tumors, limiting long-term success in up to 65% of patients who initially respond to immunotherapy. Defining ARI clinically remains complex, but ongoing efforts aim to establish standardized criteria.
