Monoclonal antibodies to canine intra-acrosomal sperm proteins recognizing acrosomal status during capacitation and acrosome reaction

Andrologia, 2009
Monoclonal antibodies Ds-1 and Ds-2 specifically labelling dog sperm acrosome were prepared by immunization of mice with acetic acid extracts of dog spermatozoa. Electron microscopy and indirect immunofluorescence localized the site of Ds-1 and Ds-2 proteins inside the acrosomal vesicle.

Receptors and channels regulating acrosome reactions

Human Fertility, 1999
Prospective clinical studies informed by cloning and sequencing of sperm surface receptors and metal ion channels have elucidated critical early steps in the acrosome reaction that explain aspects of metal ion-related male infertility. Induction of the acrosome reaction is proposed to include non-nuclear progesterone receptor activation of Shaker ...

Zona‐induced acrosome reaction of hamster spermatozoa

Journal of Experimental Zoology, 1988
AbstractIt is well established that the zonae pellucidae of mature unfertilized eggs have the ability to induce the acrosome reaction of capacitated spermatozoa. To determine if this capacity of the zona is species‐specific, hamster spermatozoa were allowed to attach to the zonae of homologous and heterologous eggs and examined for the acrosome ...

Acrosome reaction of spermatozoa with different morphology*

Andrologia, 2009
The acrosome reaction of human spermatozoa with different morphological disturbances was evaluated after application of the triple staining method. After triple staining, spermatozoa which display only a small or an undetectable acrosomal region in Papanicolaou-stained semen smears, turn out to be unable to perform an acrosome reaction, whereas merely ...

[Acrosome reaction and fertilization].

Contraception, fertilite, sexualite (1992), 1994
The acrosome reaction that occurs after sperm capacitation, is an exocytotic event induced by a Ca++ influx. It plays an essential role during fertilization, by making spermatozoa able of penetrating the zona and capable of fusing with the egg plasma membrane. Zona pellucida is the natural inducer of the acrosome reaction. Binding of the sperm receptor

Site of Mammalian Sperm Acrosome Reaction

2016
Until recently, no special attention has been paid to the question of the site of mammalian sperm acrosome reaction (AR) in the female reproductive tract. Because AR is an essential process that enables the spermatozoon to fertilize, it is generally believed that it occurs at a specific step during sperm-egg interaction.

Acrosome reaction and fertility.

International journal of andrology, 1996
The acrosome reaction is important for fertilization. To diagnose this reaction the simple gelatin lysis test, the triple-stain technique or labelling with lectins can be used. The role of pentoxifylline in enhancing the acrosome reaction remains to be determined.
