Coagulation profile in two nephropathic dogs

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, 2021
Coagulatory abnormalities are common in renal dysfunction in humans. The studies on coagulatory abnormalities in renal failure in dogs are limited. The present paper deals with coagulation profile in acute and chronic kidney disease in dogs.

Skeletal Muscle Mass Improvement and Survival After TIPS in Patients With Cirrhosis and Low Skeletal Muscle Index

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
Sarcopenia is common in patients with cirrhosis and contributes to poor prognosis. This study investigated whether transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is associated with improvement in skeletal muscle mass and whether such improvement translates into better transplant‐free survival in patients with cirrhosis and low skeletal muscle ...

The Relationship Between Blood Lipids, Coagulation Indexes, Blood Homocysteine and Sudden Deafness: A Retrospective Study and Mendelian Randomization Analysis

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Certain blood components, including blood lipids, coagulation parameters, and homocysteine, have been suggested to correlate with the incidence and prognosis of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). However, the nature of these associations remains controversial.

Evolutionary Mechanisms of Coagulation Factors in Cetaceans During Aquatic Adaptation

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Compared with Bos taurus, T. truncatus showed shorter prothrombin time and thrombin time but prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time, indicating pathway‐specific remodeling of coagulation. Evolutionary analyses identified 18 positively selected genes and accelerated F11 evolution, while functional assays revealed increased coagulation factor ...

Sequential thrombosis and bleeding in a woman with a prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time

open access: yesThrombosis Journal, 2011
Simultaneous or sequential haemorrhage and thrombosis in the presence of a prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) is a rare occurrence: we describe the case a 37 year old lady who developed post-delivery deep vein thrombosis treated with ...

A Rare Case of Acquired Haemophilia A Following Sigmoid Adenocarcinoma: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, EarlyView.
Acquired haemophilia A (AHA) is a rare complication of malignancy. We report a case of AHA secondary to colorectal cancer which presented as post‐operative bleeding, progressive activated partial thromboplastin time prolongation, precipitous factor VIII (FVIII) decline and inhibitor development.

Initial V‐A ECMO Flow‐Index and Its Association With Inflammation, Organ Failure, and Outcomes

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Higher initial V‐A ECMO flow‐index was associated with greater shock severity and independently associated with multi‐organ failure. Early hemolysis may partly contribute to this association, particularly in eCPR patients, whereas no significant indirect effect through IL‐6 was observed.

Co-relation of coagulation profile with glycemic index in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care
Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) has emerged as a significant global concern that accounts for nearly 90% of type 2 DM cases worldwide and characterized by insulin resistance. Hyperglycemia in diabetes leads to increased fibrinogen levels and activates

A Patient with a Prolonged Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time and a Deep Intracerebral Haemorrhage

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurology, 2012
We report on a 57-year-old woman with a pontine haemorrhage and an extremely prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) of more than 240 s, suggestive of a coagulation disorder.

A Biweekly GLP‐1R Agonist Designed With Drug‐Free Intervals for Enhanced Efficacy, Receptor Homeostasis and Gastrointestinal Tolerability

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To develop a next‐generation, longer‐acting, more‐clinical‐benefits agonist to achieve sustained efficacy with improved tolerability. Methods CT130 was designed from semaglutide. Binding affinity was validated via molecular dynamics and cellular assays.
