In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Active motion is a concept in complex systems theory and was successfully applied to various problems in nonlinear dynamics. Explicit studies for gravitational potentials were missing so far. We interpret the Friedmann equations with cosmological constant as a dynamical system, which can be made "active" in a straightforward way.

Efficient palladium-catalyzed electrocarboxylation enables late-stage carbon isotope labelling
Carbon isotope labelling of bioactive molecules is essential for accessing the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of new drug entities. Aryl carboxylic acids represent an important class of structural motifs ubiquitous in pharmaceutically ...

The effect of metformin on the survival of colorectal cancer patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Evidence from previous studies suggests a protective effect of metformin in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). The aim of this study was to examine the associations between metformin use and overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Modulation of NF-kappaB activation in Theileria annulata-infected cloned cell lines is associated with detection of parasite-dependent IKK signalosomes and disruption of the actin cytoskeleton [PDF]
Apicomplexan parasites within the genus Theileria have the ability to induce continuous proliferation and prevent apoptosis of the infected bovine leukocyte.

Inactivation of cytidine triphosphate synthase 1 prevents fatal auto-immunity in mice
De novo synthesis of the pyrimidine, cytidine triphosphate (CTP), is crucial for DNA/RNA metabolism and depends on the CTP synthetases, CTPS1 and −2. Partial CTPS1 deficiency in humans has previously been shown to lead to immunodeficiency, with impaired ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Activation-Coupled Membrane Type 1 Matrix Metalloproteinase Membrane Trafficking.
The transmembrane collagenase MT1-MMP (membrane-type 1 matrix metalloproteinase),also known as MMP-14,has a critical function both in normal development and in cancer progression, and is subject to extensive controls at the post-translational level which ...
