Sosialisasi pelaksanaan Active Case Finding Tuberculosis pada petugas Tuberculosis di Wilayah Kabupaten Sleman

open access: yes, 2022
The behavior of Tuberculosis (TB) officers in Yogyakarta in carrying out active case finding activities is still relatively lacking, therefore it is necessary to disseminate active case finding to TB officers.

Prevalence of Tuberculosis among Household Contacts in Pondicherry: Active Case Finding Among New Smear Positive Cases

open access: yesOnline Journal of Health & Allied Sciences, 2016
Introduction: The risk of transmission from the index case to its contacts is more in case of smear positive Pulmonary Tuberculosis cases. Any delay in diagnosis and treatment increases the risk of disease transmission to their contacts.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Improving TB case notification in northern Uganda: evidence of a quality improvement-guided active case finding intervention

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research, 2018
Background Strategies to identify and treat undiagnosed prevalent cases that have not sought diagnostic services on their own, are necessary to treat TB in patients earlier and interrupt transmission. Late presentation for medical services of symptomatic

Tuberculosis active case-finding interventions and approaches for prisoners in sub-Saharan Africa: a systematic scoping review

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2020
Background In sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), most prisons are overcrowded with poor ventilation and put prisoners disproportionally at risk of exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) and developing TB infection but are mostly missed due to poor access to ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

ANALYSIS OF COMMUNITY HEALTH VOLUNTEER (CHV) BEHAVIOR IN DETECTING PRESUMPTIVE PULMONARY TB IN BANJARNEGARA

open access: yesJurnal Berkala Epidemiologi
Background: Pulmonary TB case detection in Banjarnegara Regency from 202 to 2023 has fallen short of the target. As of June 2024, only 21% of suspected pulmonary TB cases have been identified.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Burden and Associated Factors of Tuberculosis Among Household Contacts of Sputum Positive Tuberculosis Patients of Aligarh

open access: yesIndian Journal of Community Medicine
Background: Engaging patients in healthcare for diagnosis and treatment through active case-finding, which is initiated by healthcare providers, involves methodically searching for tuberculosis in individuals who may not seek medical attention otherwise.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
