Active Damped Oscillation Calibration Method for Receiving Coil Transition Process Based on Early Acquisition of Pulsed Eddy Current Testing Signal

open access: yesEnergies
As a common signal sensing device in pulsed eddy current detection, coil sensors often have parameter offset problems in practical applications. The error in the receiving coil parameters will have a great impact on the early signal.

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

The coiled-coil protein carrier structure affects the activation of certain endocytosis pathways

open access: yesRSC Advances
A rigid and anisotropic intracellular carrier protein internalizes through activation of GAG-binding-dependent caveola-mediated endocytosis and Rho GTPase-independent macropinocytosis.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Oncogenic TPM3-ALK activation requires dimerization through the coiled-coil structure of TPM3

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2015
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a mesenchymal tumor that can arise from anywhere in the body. Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene rearrangements, most often resulting in the tropomyosin 3 (TPM3)-ALK fusion gene, are the main causes of IMT. However, the mechanism of malignant transformation in IMT has yet to be elucidated.

Development of single and multi-coil MR damper subjected to cyclic loading for structural vibration control

open access: yesAdvances in Civil and Architectural Engineering
The magnetorheological (MR) damper can dissipate energy from a vibrating system with low power consumption, making it one of the most popular semi-active damping devices. This study compares single- and multi-coil dampers subjected to cyclic loading.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).
