An Active Layered Multicast Adaptation Protocol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We describe an active application in the field of multicast congestion control for real-time traffic. Our Active Layered Multicast Adaptation Protocol is a layered multicast congestion control scheme built on top of an Active Network infrastructure. It benefits from router support in order to obtain information about resources available and to perform ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Tracer Velocity Versus Bedload Velocity: Derivation of the Unsteady Virtual Bedload Velocity From Decelerating Tracers

open access: yesWater Resources Research
During rest periods, bedload tracers can be buried, while transport can move them to locations with different bed shear stresses or a different riverbed composition. This affects the mobility of the tracers compared to that of the bedload at the location

Parameter study for a slatless 2D high-lift airfoil with active separation control using a URANS approach

open access: yes, 2013
The numerical investigations described in the present paper deal with active flow separation control for a 2D, 2-element high-lift airfoil. Here, the aim of the flow control application is to actively reduce or eliminate a large flow separation on the ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Expanding the "Active Layer" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Church and Haschenburger (2017) make helpful distinctions around the issue of defining the active layer, with which we agree. We propose expanding discussion and definition of the ”active layer” in fluvial bedload transport to include the concept of the “morphological active layer”.

The shear mode of multi-layer graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The quest for materials capable of realizing the next generation of electronic and photonic devices continues to fuel research on the electronic, optical and vibrational properties of graphene.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Dynamics of defects in an active nematic layer [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2013
Defect dynamics in a thin active nematic layer is studied by asymptotic matching of solutions in the defect core and the far field. The analysis is facilitated by the correspondence between the two-dimensional nematic and complex scalar field models. Self-propulsion and topological interactions are identified as the primary drivers of the defect motion,
