Transmission matrix of a uniaxial optically active crystal platelet [PDF]
Expressions corresponding to the transmission of a uniaxial optically active crystal platelet are provided for an optical axis parallel and perpendicular to the plane of interface. The optical activity is taken into account by a consistent multipolar expansion of the crystal medium response due to the path of an electromagnetic wave. Numerical examples

In this paper, an elastic mode method of deformable mirror is proposed to decompose arbitrary wave-front errors of adaptive optics system. The elastic modes are derived with an analytical method of linear piezoelectricity based on a bimorph piezoelectric

Active Faraday optical frequency standards [PDF]
We propose the mechanism of active Faraday optical clock, and experimentally demonstrate active Faraday optical frequency standards based on 852 nm narrow bandwidth Faraday atomic filter by the method of velocity-selective optical pumping of cesium vapor. The center frequency of the active Faraday optical frequency standards is determined by the cesium

Gravitational optical activity
Abstract By using completely classical arguments, we compute the helicity asymmetry which is associated to the polarization of light in the gravitational deflection from a classical rotating body. For the polarization states of light, we describe the general relativity corrections to the geometric optics approximation.

Earth-imaging or Universe Science satellites are always in need of higher spatial resolutions, in order to discern finer and finer details in images. This means that every new generation of satellites must have a larger main mirror than the previous one,

Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Optical activity in the Drude helix model [PDF]
An old classical one-particle helix model for optical activity, first proposed by Drude, is reconsidered here. The quantum Drude model is very instructive because the optical activity can be calculated analytically without further approximations apart from the Rosenfeld long wavelength approximation.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Abstract We describe a case of fungal keratitis due to Beauveria bassiana in a farmer with Fuchs' dystrophy, treated with amphotericin B. Surgery with penetrating keratoplasty was necessary to resolve the lesions. Susceptibility testing and molecular sequencing permitted the identification and treatment of this rare aetiological agent of invasive ...

Final Generalization of the Three Coupled Oscillator Model in the Crystal Optical Activity [PDF]
In this paper we generalize the quantum mechanical model of three coupled oscillators because of its usage in the crystal optical activity. Using this model we can include the influence of all essential couplings between single oscillators which represent the molecules or atoms of optically active crystals belonging for example to the space groups of ...
