Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Reliability assessment for Modular Multilevel Converters using Monte Carlo Simulations
Modular Multilevel Converters (MMCs) offer significant advantages in the medium to high-voltage settings. The modular architecture of MMCs allows for redundant submodules (SMs) to improve overall reliability.

Security Analysis of Dynamic Heterogeneous Redundant System [PDF]
The main causes of threats to cyberspace security are vulnerabilities and backdoor problems. In order to solve the threats based on unknown vulnerabilities, backdoor or virus Trojans in cyberspace,a probabilistic mathematical model is established for the ...

Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Mixed Redundancy Strategy for Modular Multilevel Converters in High-Power Applications
Modular multilevel converters are favorable for efficiently operating high-power usages. The required number of components significantly increases when higher modularity is introduced for the given voltage level, thus reducing the system's ...

How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...

We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

A Fault Tolerant Scheduling Heuristics for Distributed Real Time Embedded Systems
In this paper, fault tolerant task scheduling algorithms are proposed for mapping task graphs to heterogeneous processing nodes. These scheduling heuristics that we propose are redundancy-based software to tolerate hardware faults.

Redundant role for Zap70 in B cell development and activation [PDF]
AbstractExpression of the Syk family tyrosine kinase Zap70 is strongly correlated with poor clinical outcome in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, the most common human leukemia characterized by B cell accumulation. The expression of Zap70 may reflect the specific cell of origin of the tumor or may contribute to pathology.
