This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Can ChatGPT Ease Digital Fatigue? Short-Cycle Content Curation for University Instructors
Digital fatigue is pervasive among university instructors, yet rigorous evidence on whether generative AI improves well-being is scarce. We conducted an eight-week staggered multiple-baseline AB–AB reversal with eight lecturers at a private Peruvian ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An improved thick-film piezoelectric material by powder blending and enhanced processing parameters
This paper details improvements of the d33 coefficient for thick-film lead zirconate titanate (PZT) layers. In particular, the effect of blending ball and attritor milled powders has been investigated.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Investigating the anti-cancer activity of novel osmium-arene compounds using CRISPR screening technology [PDF]
Acquired resistance to chemotherapeutic agents is a common problem in the treatment of cancer. Whilst combination therapy of cisplatin and taxol is the first line treatment for ovarian cancer, around 15% of patients do not respond to this regimen and 80% of those that do relapse within 18-24 months with cisplatin-resistant disease.
