Naturally selected CD7 CAR-T therapy without genetic editing demonstrates significant antitumour efficacy against relapsed and refractory acute myeloid leukaemia (R/R-AML)

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2022
Background The survival rate for patients with relapsed and refractory acute myeloid leukaemia (R/R-AML) remains poor, and treatment is challenging.

FT-infrared spectroscopic studies of lymphoma, lymphoid and myeloid leukaemia cell lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper presents a novel method to characterise spectral differences that distinguish leukaemia and lymphoma cell lines. This is based on objective spectral measurements of major cellular biochemical constituents and multivariate spectral ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Relationship of Serum Uric Acid and Serum Creatinine Levels with Total Count of WBC in Acute Leukaemia

open access: yesHaematology Journal of Bangladesh
Background: Leukaemia is uncontrolled proliferation of white blood cells caused by mutation of myelogenous or lymphogenous cells which are usually characterized by increased number of white blood cells in the blood.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Childhood leukaemia risk and residential proximity to busy roads

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2018
Background: Current evidence suggests that childhood leukaemia can be associated with residential traffic exposure; nevertheless, more results are needed to support this conclusion.

Extramedullary disease in acute promyelocytic leukaemia: A rare presentation

open access: yesSAGE Open Medical Case Reports, 2020
Acute promyelocytic leukaemia consists of 7%–8% of cases of acute myeloid leukaemia. Extramedullary manifestations are rare and show distinct biological features.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Age-specific biological and molecular profiling distinguishes paediatric from adult acute myeloid leukaemias

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) affects people of all ages. Here, the authors model AML in vivo and demonstrate that the age of the cell of origin impacts leukaemia development and the genetic signature where adult cells of origin give rise exclusively to ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...
