Relationship between continuous infusion meropenem PK/PD target attainment and C‐reactive protein dynamics in onco‐haematologic patients with febrile neutropenia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 10, Page 3646-3655, October 2026.
Aim Meropenem is a second‐line antimicrobial agent in the treatment of febrile neutropenia in onco‐haematological patients. A population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) analysis for assessing the relationship between meropenem exposure and C‐reactive protein (C‐RP) over time was conducted.

Clinicopathological Features and Exploratory Outcome Associations of Bone Marrow Fibrosis in Newly Diagnosed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Single‐Center Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Bone marrow fibrosis (MF) reflects stromal remodeling and has been associated with treatment resistance and adverse outcomes in hematologic malignancies; however, its clinical significance in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) remains uncertain.

Potential Benefit of Ruxolitinib in Suspected Ocular and Neurological Transplant‐Associated Thrombotic Microangiopathy After Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation: A Case Report and Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT We describe a rare case of suspected delayed‐onset TA‐TMA with ocular and neurological involvement following allo‐HSCT. The condition was refractory to standard therapies; neurological improvement was temporally associated with ruxolitinib initiation, suggesting a possible GVHD overlap.

Rethinking Common Diagnoses: Idiopathic Multicentric Castleman Disease Presenting as TAFRO Syndrome: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (TAFRO subtype) can mimic common differentials. High suspicion is required for chronic systemic symptoms and generalized lymphadenopathy. As fine‐needle aspiration is often non‐diagnostic, early excisional biopsy is important.

Phase 1 dose escalation and expansion trial of the bispecific CD47 inhibitor and CD40 agonist Fc‐fusion protein SL‐172154 (SIRPα‐Fc‐CD40L) in patients with higher‐risk myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesCancer, Volume 132, Issue 19, 1 October 2026.
Abstract Background This clinical trial sought to determine whether SL‐172154 could be combined safely and improve the efficacy of azacitidine (AZA) in patients with higher‐risk myelodysplastic syndrome (HR‐MDS) or acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Methods Dose escalation: doses of 1, 3, and 6 mg/kg SL‐172154 was evaluated as monotherapy or in combination ...

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation and Microbiota‐Based Therapeutics in Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: Current Evidence and Future Directions

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 120, Issue 4, Page 871-889, October 2026.
The intestinal microbiome is a key regulator of immune homeostasis, metabolism, and epithelial barrier integrity. In patients with malignant hematological diseases, particularly those undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, microbiome perturbations by reduced diversity, pathobiont expansion, and loss of beneficial metabolites are common as ...

Bioactive peptides in cancer and inflammation: Mechanisms, model systems and clinical translation

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
Bioactive peptides (BAPs) derived from host, marine, insect, plant and synthetic sources share cationic, amphipathic structures adopting α‐helical, β‐sheet or cyclic conformations. These features underlie anti‐cancer effects, including membrane disruption, apoptosis and cell‐cycle arrest, anti‐metastatic activity, reduced invasion and migration, and ...
