Volvulus nodosus of the small intestine: Differences in foals and adults
Summary Background Volvulus nodosus is a strangulating lesion of the small intestine described only in foals and in just one case in older horses. Huskamp et al. (1982, 1998) described the pathophysiology of volvulus nodosus in foals, but to date, there is no description of the pathophysiology of volvulus nodosus in adults.

An Unusual Case of Colon Perforation Complicating Acute Pancreatitis
Colonic complications of severe acute pancreatitis occur rarely. Although there have been several theories on how pancreatic pseudocysts rupture into the colon, the exact pathogenesis remains unknown. We report an unusual case of pseudocysts complicating

Classification of Platelet‐Activating Anti‐Platelet Factor 4 Disorders
ABSTRACT Introduction The prototypic anti‐platelet factor 4 (PF4) disorder—heparin‐induced thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (HITT)—features immunoglobulin G (IgG) class antibodies that activate platelets, monocytes, and neutrophils in a mainly heparin‐dependent fashion via Fcγ receptor‐dependent cellular activation.

Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, traditionally studied as distinct pathologies. However, emerging evidence suggests a significant physiological and molecular overlap between these conditions, indicating that they might share common pathophysiological pathways. The

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Therapy for the Treatment of Intestinal Ischemia: Defining the Optimal Cell Isolate for Maximum Therapeutic Benefit [PDF]
Intestinal ischemia is a devastating intraabdominal emergency that often necessitates surgical intervention. Mortality rates can be high, and patients who survive often have significant long-term morbidity.

Abstract Acute myocardial infarction is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, with ischaemia–reperfusion (I/R) injury exacerbating myocardial damage. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) has been reported to exert cardioprotective effects, but its efficacy in preconditioning against I/R injury requires further investigation.
