Determinants of sexual transmission of HV: implications for control [PDF]
The extent to which ART (anti-retroviral therapy) reduces HIV transmission has received attention in recent years. Using data on the relationship between transmission and viral load we show that transmission saturates at high viral loads. We fit a power-law model and an exponential converging to an asymptote.

A new high-sensitive nephelometric method for assaying serum C-reactive protein based on phosphocholine interaction [PDF]
Background: The measurement of C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations has been of interest as a classical marker of acute phase response; in addition, it has been of particular interest in cardiovascular risk stratification where high-sensitive ...

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Modelling cell reactions to ionizing radiation -- from a lesion to a cancer [PDF]
This paper focuses on the analytic modelling of responses of cells in the body to ionizing radiation. The related mechanisms are consecutively taken into account and discussed. A model of the dose- and time-dependent adaptive response is considered, for two exposure categories: acute and protracted.

Characterizing plasmin-induced lag phase and application of PDMS microfluidics to detection of fibrinolytic activity [PDF]
Physical trauma is responsible for over six million deaths annually, and of these roughly 40 percent result from acute traumatic coagulopathy (ATC) occurring in the first few hours of incidence. Patients who have developed ATC have significantly improved
