Palladium-catalyzed Decarbonylative Cyanation of Acyl Fluorides and Chlorides

Chemistry Letters, 2020
Abstract Decarbonylative cyanation of acyl fluorides can be catalyzed by a Pd/Xantphos system. This protocol is also applicable to the conversion of acyl chlorides.

Alumina-accelerated methanolysis and hydrolysis of acyl and phosphoryl fluorides

Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, 1981
Abstract We have discovered that Woelm chromatographic γ-alumina substantially accelerates hydrolysis (and methanolysis) of acyl and phosphoryl fluorides. Compared to the corresponding homogeneous reactions, these heterogeneous alumina-promoted reactions occur about 250–350 times faster for acyl fluorides and about 1800–3000 times faster ...

Reactions of group IVB compounds with acyl fluorides

Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, 1971
Abstract Derivatives of acyl fluorides can be readily prepared in high yields by reaction with Group IVB compounds. The reaction may be represented as where n =0-3, and, when M is Si, Y may be nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, or halogen. When M is Ge or Sn the scope of the reaction is more limited, but oxygen and nitrogen derivatives may be prepared ...

Electronic Spectra of Isoelectronic Amides, Acids, and Acyl Fluorides

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968
The first four bands in the gas-phase spectra of amides, carboxylic acids, and acyl fluorides are thought to be n → π*, n → 3s Rydberg, π → π*, and n → 3p Rydberg excitations. That the second and fourth bands are Rydberg, whereas the first and third are valence shell is demonstrated in a comparison of gas-phase and condensed-phase absorption and ...

Facile conversion of perfluoroacyl fluorides into other acyl halides

Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1, 1996
Nine perfluoroacyl fluorides underwent halogen exchange when treated with anhydrous lithium halides to give acyl chlorides, bromides and iodides in high yields. The temperature dependence of this reaction is described. In the reaction with perfluorodiacyl fluoride, the diacyl halides possessing different acyl halide-groups were also produced.

Direct Access to Acyl Fluorides from Carboxylic Acids Using a Phosphine/Fluoride Deoxyfluorination Reagent System

Organic Letters, 2019
A fast and simple method for deoxyfluorination of carboxylic acids is presented. The protocol employs commodity chemicals (PPh3, NBS, fluoride), affording products in excellent yields under mild conditions. Acyloxyphosphonium ion, the key reaction intermediate, was identified by NMR spectroscopic methods.

1,2-Acylcyanation of Styrenes by Photoinduced Nickel Catalysis to Generate Acyl Radicals from Acyl Fluorides

Organic Letters
We report herein a photoinduced nickel-catalyzed 1,2-acylcyanation of styrenes with acyl fluorides and trimethylsilyl cyanide (TMSCN). Nickel(II) acyl complexes, formed from nickel(0) complexes and acyl fluorides, are photoexcited to generate acyl radicals via a ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) process.
