An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

User involvement in automatic filtering: an experimental study

open access: yes, 2004
The aim in information filtering is to provide users with a personalised selection of information, based on their interest profile. In adaptive information filtering, this profile partially or completely acquired by automatic means.

MODEL OF STRATIFIED LUBRICATION OF ELASTICALLY DEFORMED RADIAL BEARING

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2014
On the basis of the Navier-Stokes equations for the case of a ‘thin layer’, the continuity equation, Lame equations, and Darcy equation, considering the boundary conditions on the pin and bearing face at the layer interface, a method of generating an ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Differential Expression Profile of Chicken Embryo Fibroblast DF-1 Cells Infected with Cell-Adapted Infectious Bursal Disease Virus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
RNA-Seq was used to unveil the transcriptional profile of DF-1 cells at the early stage of caIBDV infection. Total RNAs were extracted from virus-infected cells at 0, 6 and 12 hpi.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF COMPRESSIBLE MICROPOLAR HYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION FOR RADIAL BEARING WITH ADAPTED PROFILE OF ITS SURFACE

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2011
The analytical hydrodynamic calculations of the radial bearing with the adapted profile of its contact surface are made. Some optimal intervals of the nondimensional parameters typical for the compressible micropolar lubricants, as well as the parameter ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The Contemporary Adaptive Model for the Expatriates’ Profile

open access: yesInternational Journal of Management, Knowledge and Learning, 2016
Considering the global realities and the technological evolution, within a knowledge-based economy, many organizations aim at the human capital development, setting up not just organizational standards but promoting environmentally HR’s adjustment criteria in order to provide sustainability for recruitment and selection processes. Therefore, developing
