Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Cultivated sweet rowanberries have high phenolic content and antioxidant capacity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cultivation of sweet rowan was started in Kuopio in 1990 when various cultivars and hybrids adapted to nothern climates were planted in the University Botanical Garden. All the cultivars have high antioxidant and phenolic content.

Blow-up of a critical Sobolev norm for energy-subcritical and energy-supercritical wave equations

open access: yes, 2017
This work concerns the semilinear wave equation in three space dimensions with a power-like nonlinearity which is greater than cubic, and not quintic (i.e. not energy-critical).

Gene pleiotropy constrains gene expression changes in fish adapted to different thermal conditions

open access: yesNature Communications, 2014
Understanding the factors that shape the evolution of gene expression is a central goal in biology, but the molecular mechanisms behind this remain controversial.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF COMPRESSIBLE MICROPOLAR HYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION FOR RADIAL BEARING WITH ADAPTED PROFILE OF ITS SURFACE

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2011
The analytical hydrodynamic calculations of the radial bearing with the adapted profile of its contact surface are made. Some optimal intervals of the nondimensional parameters typical for the compressible micropolar lubricants, as well as the parameter ...

Let’s dance the news! How the news media are adapting to the logic of TikTok

open access: yesJournalism, 2020
The influence of TikTok has reached the news media, which has adapted to the logic of the platform, in a context marked by the incidental consumption of news, virality and the intermediation of technology in access to information.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...
