User-controlled link adaptation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the fourteenth ACM conference on Hypertext and hypermedia, 2003
This paper introduces an adaptable hypermedia approach applied to adaptive link annotation techniques. This approach suggests that the combination of direct manipulation with automated link annotation affords greater user control over page adaptation. In turn, this direct control better supports user focus in information discovery tasks.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

An application of adaptive fault-tolerant control to nano-spacecraft

open access: yes, 2014
Since nano-spacecraft are small, low cost and do not undergo the same rigor of testing as conventional spacecraft, they have a greater risk of failure.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The application of the adaptive control to the mechatronic control : The proposal of the high-gain feedback adaptive control

open access: yes, 2009
P(論文)It is necessary that the mechatronic control system achieves good performance toward the large mechanical characteristicchange or the mechanical impact on the controlled system.

Distributed Adaptive Control for Uncertain Networks

open access: yes
Control of network systems with uncertain local dynamics has remained an open problem for a long time. In this paper, a distributed minimax adaptive control algorithm is proposed for such networks whose local dynamics has an uncertain parameter possibly ...

Adaptive, cautious, predictive control with Gaussian process priors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Nonparametric Gaussian Process models, a Bayesian statistics approach, are used to implement a nonlinear adaptive control law. Predictions, including propagation of the state uncertainty are made over a k-step horizon.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Modelling and control of adaptive mechanical structures Proceedings

open access: yes, 1998
Adaptive structures (smart structures) are autonomous structural systems with integrated multifunctional smart materials as actuators and sensors, connected by a control system, to facilitate adaptation to changing environmental conditions (e.g.
