Two approaches to the adaptive cruise control (ACC) design
2018 Cybernetics & Informatics (K&I), 2018The cruise control system is usually implemented as a PI or PID controllers. In this paper we will show the modification of the structure and parameters of the controller depending on the requirements of the cruise control system. Different controller structure is required for a step changes of speed and another one for a linearly varying speed.

Drivers’ Selected Settings for Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting, 2013Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is a system that assists drivers on longitudinal control by automatically adjusting the throttle. Users can set the speed and gap setting based on their driving preferences. In this study, drivers’ ACC use pattern and selection choices are examined based on their level of experience and geographical location.

ACC (Adaptive cruise control) simplifies the task of driving a car because it relieves the driver of the mentally demanding task of keeping a check on the car’s speed, thus allowing driving behind slower vehicles to be relaxed and safe.

Behavioural adaptation to adaptive cruise control (ACC): implications for preventive strategies
Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology and Behaviour, 2004This test-track study assessed whether adaptive cruise control (ACC) induces behavioural adaptation in drivers. Eighteen experienced drivers drove a test vehicle while following a lead vehicle in three counterbalanced conditions: No ACC (self-maintained average headway of 2 s), ACC-Short (headway of 1.4 s) and ACC-Long (headway of 2.4 s).

Macroscopic traffic flow stability for adaptive cruise controlled (ACC) vehicles
Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2002In this paper, we discuss a general approach to the macroscopic traffic flow stability analysis of adaptive cruise controlled (ACC) vehicles. We present a macroscopic model with velocity saturation for traffic flow in which each individual vehicle is controlled by an ACC spacing policy. A nonlinear traffic flow stability criterion is investigated using

Predicting the Effects of Time-Gaps for Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) on Bus Driver Performance
Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 2011Researchers have a deal of attention to the effects on driver performance when driving with assist systems. This article describes modeling approach to simulate the effects of time-gaps for adaptive cruise control (ACC) on bus driver's performance. A concept model was built with the knowledge of modularization, parameterization, and parallel processing.
