Human Performance Effects of Adaptive Automation of Variuos Air Traffic Control Information Processing Functions

open access: yes, 2004
Advanced forms of automation are being considered for application to Air Traffic Control (ATC) in order to reduce controller workload and make higher traffic volumes more manageable.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Knowledge representation within information systems in manufacturing environments

open access: yes, 2004
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University.Representing knowledge as information content alone is insufficient in providing us with an understanding of the world around us.

A performance comparison of robust adaptive controllers: linear systems

open access: yes, 2006
We consider robust adaptive control designs for relative degree one, minimum phase linear systems of known high frequency gain. The designs are based on the dead-zone and projection modifications, and we compare their performance w.r.t.

Assessment of the speed and reliability of an information and measuring system with adaptive tuning of data transmission and processing methods

open access: yesТехнічна інженерія
The problem of assessing the quality indicators of an information and measuring system as quantitative characteristics of its properties (speed, transmission delay, reliability, integral reliability, noise immunity) is considered.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Exploring the Impact of Adaptive Behaviors on Balance: A Comparative Analysis of Static and Dynamic Balance in Athletes With and Without Intellectual Disabilities

open access: yesBrain and Behavior
Background Individuals with intellectual disability (ID) shows less development on their motor skills. Understanding the interaction between intellectual and physical performance will provide valuable information for the design of personalized ...

Noncoherent Channel Combining for GNSS Signal Tracking with an Adaptive Antenna Array

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Adaptive antenna arrays are widely used to protect Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers from interference. However, conventional blind anti-jamming array processing methods can cause satellite signal attenuation, which reduces signal ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
