Quality-Driven Disorder Handling for M-way Sliding Window Stream Joins

open access: yes, 2017
Sliding window join is one of the most important operators for stream applications. To produce high quality join results, a stream processing system must deal with the ubiquitous disorder within input streams which is caused by network delay ...

Robust Transmission Network Expansion Planning under Correlated Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper addresses the transmission network expansion planning problem under uncertain demand and generation capacity. A two-stage adaptive robust optimization framework is adopted whereby the worst-case operating cost is accounted for under a given ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Fiber Shedding from Polyester and Polyester-Cotton Blend Fabrics During Tumble Drying

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers
This study examines fiber shedding from polyester and polyester–cotton blend textiles during tumble drying in a domestic heat pump dryer, focusing on the effects of drum speed, load mass, and load composition.

GreedyDual-Join: Locality-Aware Buffer Management for Approximate Join Processing Over Data Streams [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We investigate adaptive buffer management techniques for approximate evaluation of sliding window joins over multiple data streams. In many applications, data stream processing systems have limited memory or have to deal with very high speed data streams.

An Improved Method of Adaptive Under Voltage Load Shedding

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Materials Science and Engineering, 2017
The conventional under voltage load shedding method only based on the local voltage information, and the method designed without considerations on load characters and mutual influences of the voltage and the frequency, this method may cause the instability of power system.

BMI‐1 modulation and trafficking during M phase in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The schematic illustrates BMI‐1 phosphorylation during M phase, which triggers its translocation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In cycling cells, BMI‐1 functions within the PRC1 complex to mediate H2A K119 monoubiquitination. Following PTC596‐induced M phase arrest, phosphorylated BMI‐1 dissociates from PRC1 and is exported to the cytoplasm via its

Enhancing power system stability with adaptive under frequency load shedding using synchrophasor measurements and empirical mode decomposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
This paper introduces an adaptive under frequency load shedding (AUFLS) scheme based on synchrophasor measurements and Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) to enhance power system stability during significant disturbances.

LoRaWAN-based IoT protocol for three levels central protection scheme in MT-HVDC networks with ANFIS-PSO restoration algorithm

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
A new three-level adaptive central protection scheme has been introduced for multi-terminal high voltage direct current (MT-HVDC) transmission grids. The primary protection is based on a differential relay, while two backup protection levels are proposed:

Potential immunosuppressive effects of Escherichia coli O157:H7 experimental infection on the bovine host [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC), like E. coli O157:H7 are frequently detected in bovine faecal samples at slaughter. Cattle do not show clinical symptoms upon infection, but for humans the consequences after consuming contaminated ...
