An Adaptive Reclosing Scheme Based on Phase Characteristics for MMC-HVDC Systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2022
To improve the reliability of power supply, reclosing schemes are required after transient faults, which commonly occur in overhead line based high voltage DC (HVDC) systems. However, in the event of permanent faults, the auto-reclosing scheme may cause a severe strike.

An Adaptive Reclosing Scheme for Cross-Line Faults on Double-Circuit Wind Power Outgoing Lines with Shunt Reactors

open access: yesEnergies
Wind turbines are vulnerable to negative sequence current injection, the conventional automatic reclosing scheme for wind power outgoing lines, since we may inject negative sequence components into the system and reclose it without distinguishing the ...

Uninterrupted power supply to BESS based microgrid system using adaptive reclosing approach

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2021
As more than 80% of faults on overhead lines are temporary (transient) in nature which is caused due to lightning strikes, momentary bird or tree limb contact, wind bringing conductors in contact, etc.

An adaptive reclosing strategy for MMC-HVDC systems with hybrid DC circuit breakers [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2019
Modular multilevel converter (MMC) based high voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) is an effective solution for large-scale renewable power integration over long-distance. In the overhead MMC-HVDC systems, the high voltage DC circuit breakers (DCCB)

Implementation and performance evaluation of a harmonic filter for use in adaptive single‐phase reclosing

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 2017
This study presents an adaptive single‐phase reclosing method based on voltage harmonic measurement implemented in a digital harmonic filter. This filter and the transmission system were modelled in a real‐time digital simulator. A distance relay was used for protection and reclosing, responding as if it was in field operation.

Adaptive reclosing scheme for flexible HVDC grid with single-pole ground fault based on residual voltage zero-crossing detection

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
To avoid the issue of blind reclosing in conventional flexible high voltage direct current (HVDC) grid, investigating an adaptive reclosing scheme capable of identifying fault nature and duration is essential.
