Phase Clocks for Transient Fault Repair [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 1999
Phase clocks are synchronization tools that implement a form of logical time in distributed systems. For systems tolerating transient faults by self-repair of damaged data, phase clocks can enable reasoning about the progress of distributed repair ...

A New Fast Peak Current Controller for Transient Voltage Faults for Power Converters [PDF]

open access: yesEnergies, 2015
Power converters are the basic unit for the transient voltage fault ride through capability for most renewable distributed generators (DGs). When a transient fault happens, the grid voltage will drop suddenly and probably will also suffer a phase-jump ...

Opportunistic Transient-Fault Detection [PDF]

open access: yes32nd International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA'05), 2005
CMOS scaling increases susceptibility of microprocessors to transient faults. Most current proposals for transient-fault detection use full redundancy to achieve perfect coverage while incurring significant performance degradation. However, most commodity systems do not need or provide perfect coverage.

Transient landscapes at fault tips [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, 2007
Fault growth produces patterns of displacement and slip rate that are highly variable in both space and time. This transience is most pronounced near fault tips, where along‐strike displacement gradients vary in time as the fault array lengthens.

Monitoring, Detection and Locating of Transient Earth Fault Using Zero-Sequence Current and Cable Screen Earthing Current in Medium Voltage Cable and Mixed Feeders

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
This paper presents the final development of an expert system utilizing a measurement of cable screen earthing transient current. The developed system allows for identification and location of earth fault in underground cable and mixed lines (underground

Transient fault identification method for bipolar short‐circuit fault on MMC‐HVDC overhead lines based on hybrid HVDC breaker

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2021
A bipolar short‐circuit transient fault identification method for overhead transmission lines in modular multi‐level converter‐based high voltage direct current (MMC‐HVDC) grid based on the hybrid HVDC breaker is proposed.

An accurate analysis method for transient characteristics of DC line faults in voltage source converter‐based DC systems

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2021
Voltage source converter‐based DC systems face severe overcurrent problem under DC line faults, which causes significant influence on security, reliability and stability of the power system. As the theoretical basis for relay coordination and protection,

Guaranteeing the fault transient performance of aerospace multiphase permanent magnet motor system: An adaptive robust speed control approach

open access: yesCES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2020
To enhance the fault transient performance of aerospace multiphase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) system, an adaptive robust speed control is proposed regardless of the phase open-circuit (OC) and short-circuit (SC) fault in this paper, which ...

On the Susceptibility of QDI Circuits to Transient Faults

open access: yes, 2023
By design, quasi delay-insensitive (QDI) circuits exhibit higher resilience against timing variations as compared to their synchronous counterparts. Since computation in QDI circuits is event-based rather than clock-triggered, spurious events due to transient faults such as radiation-induced glitches, a priori are of higher concern in QDI circuits.

Modelling and simulation analysis of MMC‐HVDC system based on transient energy flow

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, 2023
In the high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system composed of modular multilevel converters (MMC), considering the distribution of transient energy flow (TEF) contributes to the transient modelling and fault characteristic analysis when dc ...
