Detection of local-moment formation using the resonant interaction between coupled quantum wires
We study the influence of many-body interactions on the transport characteristics of a novel device structure, consisting of a pair of quantum wires that are coupled to each other by means of a quantum dot.

Blocking a wave: Frequency band gaps in ice shelves with periodic crevasses [PDF]
We assess how the propagation of high-frequency elastic-flexural waves through an ice shelf is modified by the presence of spatially periodic crevasses.

Resonance mechanisms of a single line-to-ground fault on ungrounded systems
As for a single line-to-ground fault in an ungrounded distribution system, the power-frequency current is too low to detect the fault. The transient current is more palpable than that at a power-frequency of 50 or 60 Hz. It is an effective method to estimate the fault using the transient fault current.

A Technique of Direct Tension Measurement of a Strung Fine Wire [PDF]
We present a new technique of direct measurement of wire tensions in wire chambers. A specially designed circuit plucks the wire using the Lorentz force and measures the frequency of damped transverse oscillations of the wire.

An Improved High-Sensitivity Airborne Transient Electromagnetic Sensor for Deep Penetration
The investigation depth of transient electromagnetic sensors can be effectively increased by reducing the system noise, which is mainly composed of sensor internal noise, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and environmental noise, etc.

We have developed a noncontact method for measurement of the interline capacitance in Cu/low-k interconnect. It is based on a miniature test vehicle with net capacitance of a few femto-Farads formed by two 20-\mu m-long parallel wires (lines) with widths
