Horizontal coseismic deformation of the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake measured from SPOT satellite images: Implications for the seismic cycle along the western foothills of central Taiwan [PDF]
The 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake, M_w = 7.6, broke a major thrust fault along the western foothills of the Central Range of Taiwan. We have measured the horizontal coseismic displacement field by correlating optical satellite images acquired before and after ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The fault feature of the rolling bearing is difficult to extract when weak fault occurs and interference exists. The tunable Q-factor wavelet transform (TQWT) can effectively extract the weak fault characteristic of the rolling bearing, but the manual ...

Fault Detection of Gearbox from Inverter Signals Using Advanced Signal Processing Techniques [PDF]
The gear faults are time-localized transient events so time-frequency analysis techniques (such as the Short-Time Fourier Transform, Wavelet Transform, motor current signature analysis) are widely used to deal with non-stationary and nonlinear signals ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

To address the low accuracy of faulty feeder detection methods based on single-fault characteristics, we propose a faulty feeder detection method for resonant grounding systems that fuses multiple transient characteristics.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

We present a numerical methodology to estimate the transient fault currents and to simulate the remote sensing of transient fault information embedded in the magnetic field emissions caused by inter-turn shorts in 60 Hz air-core reactors, thru a magneto ...

At present, most of the research on underground power supply system grounding fault positioning in coal mine adopts the transient method, which needs to collect zero sequence voltage and zero sequence current of the line at the same time.
