Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Active Sidewall Panels with Virtual Microphones for Aircraft Interior Noise Reduction

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
This work deals with the reduction of aircraft interior noise using active sidewall panels (linings). Research work done in the past showed that considerable reductions of the sound pressure level (SPL) in the cabin are possible using structural ...

Adaptive Structural Identification

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1977
Abstract In this paper the synthesis of mathematical models in terms of parametric, argument and structural indefiniteness of plants with known laws of noises' probability distribution is discussed. An an optimality criterion of the structures the proposed method for adaptive structural identification uses the verification of the statistical ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

MODELS FOR INTRALAMINAR DAMAGE AND FAILURE OF FIBER COMPOSITES - A REVIEW

open access: yesFacta Universitatis. Series: Mechanical Engineering, 2016
In order to fully exploit the potential of structures made from fiber composites, designers need to know how damage occurs and develops and under what conditions the structure finally fails.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
