An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Research into Correlation between the Lubrication Mode of Contact Surfaces and Dynamic Parameters of Turbo-Generator Transmissions

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
The paper presents the results of an experimental study aimed at assessing the correlation between the measurement of dynamic parameters (vibration, high-frequency vibration, and acoustic emission) and the analysis of friction mode and the state of ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Additive and multiplicative generators in interval-valued fuzzy set theory

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we introduce the notion of additive and multiplicative generator on L^I, which is the underlying lattice of interval-valued fuzzy set theory.

DECISIONS IN NEGOTIATIONS USING EXPERT SYSTEMS AND MATHEMATICAL METHODS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Petrosani: Economics, 2011
The goal of this paper is at the very instant to highlight the role and the importance of mathematical multi-attribute methods, implemented in expert systems, in the preparing of international negotiation processes.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

The Structure of Z2Z2s-Additive Codes: Bounds on the Minimum Distance

open access: yes, 2013
Z2Z4-additive codes, as a special class of abelian codes, have found a very welcoming place in the recent studies of algebraic coding theory. This family in one hand is similar to binary codes on the other hand is similar to quaternary codes.
