E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

A rapid design exploration framework under additive manufacturing process uncertainty
Current computer-aided design (CAD) systems are not computationally efficient for exploring the growing design space of products manufactured with additive manufacturing (AM). A rapid method with sufficient fidelity is desired. Meanwhile, uncertainties

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Laser induced hydrophobicity on the TI6AL4V additive manufacturing parts
The widespread adoption of additive manufacturing (AM) is always challenged by the quality of the AM part. In the current context many efforts are focusing on the internal quality such as porosity, mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy but not

Integrated design-oriented framework for Resource Selection in Additive Manufacturing [PDF]
Resource selection (RS) is one of the prime phases of product design that have substantiating impact on the manufacturing of products. Material and manufacturing process selection are considered an important ingredient of RS and must be dealt with in ...

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

The analogies between human development and additive manufacture: Expanding the definition of design
Design techniques represent a huge economic barrier to the progression of Additive Manufacturing (AM) to more industrial applications. The aim of this research is to use biological analogies, taken from human development to offer a new perspective on ...
