Factors Dictating Carbene Formation at (PNP)Ir [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The mechanistic subtleties involved with the interaction of an amido/bis(phosphine)-supported (PNP)Ir fragment with a series of linear and cyclic ethers have been investigated using density functional theory.

Synthesis, reactivity studies, and cytotoxicity of two trans-Iodidoplatinum(II) complexes. Does photoactivation work? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
trans-Platinum complexes have been the landmark in unconventional drugs prompting the development of innovative structures that might exhibit chemical and biological profiles different to cisplatin.

Aqueous Synthesis of Poly(ethylene glycol)‐Amide‐Norbornene‐Carboxylate for Modular Hydrogel Crosslinking

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
An all aqueous synthesis of poly(ethylene glycol)‐amide‐norbornene‐carboxylate (PEGaNBCA) is developed via reacting carbic anhydride with amino‐terminated PEG. PEGaNBCA is readily crosslinked into hydrogels by click chemistries. PEGaNBCA crosslinked thiol‐norbornene hydrogels are hydrolytically stable but can be rendered hydrolytically labile through ...

Drastic Minimization in the van der Waals Interaction with the Bottom Epitaxial Graphene Layer by the Diels-Alder Surface Chemistry of the Top Graphene Layer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
The Diels-Alder surface modified top epitaxial graphene layer, with newly created pair of sp3 carbon centres, results in abrupt minimization of interlayer van der Waals interactions between two stacked graphene planes, and escapes the wafer during post-reaction manipulation stage, leaving the layer under it almost pristine-like.

A Theoretical and Experimental Study on the Lewis Acid−Base Adducts (P4E3)·(BX3) (E = S, Se; X = Br, I) and (P4Se3)·(NbCl5) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The Lewis acid−base adducts (P4E3)·(BX3) (E = S, Se; X = Br, I) and (P4Se3)·(NbCl5) have been prepared and characterized by Raman, IR, and solid-state 31P MAS NMR spectroscopy. Hybrid density functional calculations (B3LYP) have been carried out for both

Progress in Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells: Paving the Way for Scalable Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are well positioned for a successful market uptake. This is due to an unprecedented improvement of their efficiency and stability since the first report in 2009. In this review paper, the building blocks for the scalable manufacturing and future commercialization of flexible PSCs and their pathway to impact will be ...

A hydroxamic acid-methacrylated collagen conjugate for the modulation of inflammation-related MMP upregulation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Chemistry B 2018, 2018
Medical devices with matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) modulating functionality are highly desirable to restore tissue homeostasis in critical inflammation states, such as chronic wounds, rotator cuff tears and cancer. The introduction of MMP-modulating functionality in such devices is typically achieved via loading of either rapidly-diffusing chelating ...

Unusual DNA binding modes for metal anticancer complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
DNA is believed to be the primary target for many metal-based drugs. For example, platinum-based anticancer drugs can form specific lesions on DNA that induce apoptosis.

Red Multi‐Resonant Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Emitters as Bioimaging Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Multi‐resonant thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR‐TADF) emitters have attracted strong interest for use in electroluminescent devices due to their high photoluminescence quantum yield and narrowband emission. These properties, along with red emission, are also crucial for bioimaging probes.

Continuous Flow Synthesis of α‐Chloroketones from Esters

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
Abstract Herein, we report a novel and practical strategy to access α‐chloroketones from esters bearing diverse (hetero)aromatic, aliphatic, alkynyl and alkenyl substituents with transient chloromethyllithium under continuous flow conditions. This highly chemoselective method enables a fast (on a time scale of <5 s), efficient and straightforward ...
