A Cobotic, Digitally Controlled Schlenk‐line Unlocks Access to Elusive Lewis‐Base Stabilised Copper Bis(Disilylamides)

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A Cobotic digital chemistry approach succeeds where manual synthesis failed. Herein, we present our new “AutoSchlenk” line which, coupled with other digital chemistry tools, was key to the synthesis and isolation of an unstable, and previously inaccessible, three‐coordinate Cu(II) hexamethylsilylamide complex. Abstract Silylamides are important ligands

Lewis Acidity of the SbCl3/o‐chloranil System

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An SbCl5 surrogate from easy‐to‐handle reagents! The putative SbCl3(o‐C6O2Cl4) synthon is calculated to be more Lewis acidic than SbCl5. Even if endergonic, its formation from SbCl3 and o‐chloranil can be driven by Lewis base coordination, leading to the corresponding adducts.

Harnessing Bifunctional N‐Benzoyloxyamides for Photoredox Amidative Dual Functionalizations of Alkenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A novel photocatalytic strategy is presented for intermolecular amidative dual functionalization of alkenes using N‐benzoyloxyamides as bifunctional N─O reagents. The method enables efficient olefin 1,2‐amidooxygenation and significantly extends its reactivity to encompass amidoazidation, diamination, and formal anti‐Markovnikov hydroamidation.

Counterintuitive Photochemistry of an Isolated Acridinyl Radical: ConPET via Preassembly, Solvated Electrons or a Long‐Lived Excited State?

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In this paper, we isolate the reduced form of a commonly used acridinium photocatalyst (acridinyl, Acr•) and investigate its photochemistry using transient absorption, analysed alongside TD‐DFT calculations. We show that despite the apparent long lifetime of the fluorescent state of Acr•, it is not relevant to reactivity.

Copper‐Photoredox‐Catalyzed C(sp3)–C(sp3) Reductive Cross‐Coupling of Alkyl Bromides with BCP‐Thianthrenium Reagents

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We show a reductive cross‐coupling reaction of bicyclo[1.1.1]pentyl (BCP)‐thianthrenium reagents and alkyl bromides, which is catalyzed by a copper/photoredox catalyst system. The reaction provides a variety of BCP‐alkylated products through the formation of a C(sp3)−C(sp3) bond. Abstract Herein, we report a reductive cross‐coupling reaction of bicyclo[
