New England Journal of Medicine, 1956ADDUCTION contracture of the thumb presents a most serious disability of the hand. The thumb is useless as an opponent for the fingers, is unable to abduct and rotate and, in some cases, blocks flexion of the fingers. The hand is incapable of proper grasp, pinch and stereognosis. The proper mechanics of position of the thumb are crippled.

American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1997We report on a boy with adducted thumbs, microcephaly, swallowing difficulties, hypotonia, and severe mental retardation, but without craniostenosis or arthrogryposis. An MRI scan showed myelinization according to age and mild ventricular enlargement.

Redox reactions of these two kinds, popularly known as 5-hydrogenated-6-thyminyl (reducing) and 6-hydrogenated-5-thyminyl (oxidizing), were investigated where ferric ions (oxidizing) and ferrous ions (reducing) were used as the corresponding redox partners.

The latter is labile in solution and can undergo head‐to‐tail dimerization to give [ArSi(H)PH]2 3 and “free” NHC.
