Search for Interstellar Adenine [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys Space Sci, 2015, 357, 90, 2015
It is long debated if pre-biotic molecules are indeed present in the interstellar medium. Despite substantial works pointing to their existence, pre-biotic molecules are yet to be discovered with a complete confidence. In this paper, our main aim is to study the chemical evolution of interstellar adenine under various circumstances.

Adenine Abundance in a Collapsing Molecular Cloud [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
A vital ingredient of DNA molecule named adenine may be produced by successive addition of HCN during molecular cloud collapse and star formation. We compute its abundance in a collapsing cloud as a function of the reaction rate and show that in much of ...

Quantum theory of a potential biological magnetic field sensor: radical pair mechanism in flavin adenine dinucleotide biradicals [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Recent studies in vitro and in vivo suggest that flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) on its own might be able to act as a biological magnetic field sensor. Motivated by these observations, in this study, we develop a detailed quantum theoretical model for the radical pair mechanism (RPM) for the flavin adenine biradical within the FAD molecule.

Lung Oxidative Stress, DNA Damage, Apoptosis, and Fibrosis in Adenine-Induced Chronic Kidney Disease in Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2017
It is well-established that there is a crosstalk between the lung and the kidney, and several studies have reported association between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and pulmonary pathophysiological changes.

Preventive effects of the Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch and Cornus officinalis Sieb herb couple on chronic kidney disease rats via modulating the intestinal microbiota and enhancing the intestinal barrier

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
CKD is a clinical syndrome with slow development and gradual deterioration of renal function. At present, modern medicine still lacks an ideal treatment method for this disease, while TCM has accumulated rich clinical experience in the treatment of CKD ...

Adenine Nucleotide and Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Measurements in Plants [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Protocols in Plant Biology, 2020
AbstractAs the principal co‐factors of many metabolic pathways, the measurement of both adenine nucleotides and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide provides important information about cellular energy metabolism. However, given their rapid and reversible conversion as well as their relatively low concentration ranges, it is difficult to measure these ...

Water dimer driven DNA base superstructure with mismatched hydrogen-bonding [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Am. Chem. Soc. 144, 20227-20231 (2022), 2022
The existence of water dimers in equilibrium water vapor at room temperature and their anomalous properties revealed by recent studies suggest the benchmark role of water dimer in both experiment and theory. However, there has been a limited observation of individual water dimers due to the challenge of water separation and generation at the single ...

Alteration in the molecular structure of the adenine base exposed to gamma irradiation: An ESR study

open access: yesOpen Chemistry, 2023
Adenine polycrystals were obtained from their powder form under effective crystallization conditions by adjustment of the concentration of chemical solutions. The adenine samples were irradiated with a 60Co gamma-ray source at room temperature for 12, 24,

Trypanosoma brucei adenine-phosphoribosyltransferases mediate adenine salvage and aminopurinol susceptibility but not adenine toxicity [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Drugs and Drug Resistance, 2014
African trypanosomes, like all obligate parasitic protozoa, cannot synthesize purines de novo and import purines from their hosts to build nucleic acids. The purine salvage pathways of Trypanosoma brucei being redundant, none of the involved enzymes is likely to be essential.
