Adenosine deaminase inhibition

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2019
Adenosine deaminase is a critical enzyme in purine metabolism that regulates intra and extracellular adenosine concentrations by converting it to inosine. Adenosine is an important purine that regulates numerous physiological functions by interacting with its receptors.

Adenosine Deaminase Deficiency

Hospital Practice, 1987
Inherited deficiency of the purine salvage enzyme adenosine deaminase (ADA) is responsible for approximately half the cases of autosomal recessive Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). Deficiency of ADA can also result in a much later-onset, milder immunodeficiency, while lesser degrees of enzyme deficiency can result in either late-onset ...

Adenosine deaminase inhibitors: Differential effects on multiple forms of adenosine deaminase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1978
Summary Three forms of calf intestine adenosine deaminase were resolved by gel filtrat in Sephacryl C-200 into species of 38,000 (E S ), 57,000 (E I ) and greater than 200,00 (E L ) daltons. The sensitivities of the three forms of adenosine deaminase to the adenosine deaminase inhibitors, 2′-deoxycoformycin (dCF) and erythro-9-(2-hydroxynonyl)adenine

Treatment of Adenosine Deaminase Deficiency with Polyethylene Glycol–Modified Adenosine Deaminase

New England Journal of Medicine, 1987
We treated two children who had adenosine deaminase deficiency and severe combined immunodeficiency disease by injecting bovine adenosine deaminase modified by conjugation with polyethylene glycol. The modified enzyme was rapidly absorbed after intramuscular injection and had a half-life in plasma of 48 to 72 hours.

Adenosine deaminase.

Methods in enzymology, 1977
Adenosine deaminase plays a key role in adenosine metabolism. This nueleoside has some important pharmacological and toxic effects. An adenosine deaminase deficiency observed in some cases of severe congenital immunodeficiency represents the first link between an immunological and enzymic defect.

Novel substrate of adenosine deaminase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1971
Abstract Adenosine deaminase (from calf intestinal mucosa) converts 8,2′-anhydro-8-mercap to-9-β-D-arabinofuranosyladenine (II)) into 8,2′-anhydro-8-mercapto-9-β-D-arabinofuranosylhypoxanthine (III) with Km of 2.0 × 10−4M and V max equal to 7% that of adenosine. This conversion serves as a useful preparative synthesis of III. Further the fact that II
