A Fatal Case of Neonatal Adenovirus Infection

open access: yes, 2010
Adenovirus can produce severe disease and even death in the immunocompromised neonate. Symptoms of adenovirus infection are similar to those seen with bacterial infections in neonates, making early recognition and diagnosis difficult.

Assessment and development of adenovirus type 11 for cancer therapy

open access: yes, 2010
PhDThe efficacy of oncolytic virotherapy is influenced by the interactions between the tumour, virus and host immunity. The first generation of oncolytic adenoviruses, based on serotype 5 (Ad5), has achieved limited success in clinical trials.

Nanopore direct RNA sequencing and the epitranscriptome: Advances in mapping native RNA landscapes

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Nanopore direct RNA sequencing advances transcriptomics by capturing full‐length transcripts and multiple RNA modifications; this review details its principles, workflows, tools, applications, challenges, and future research potential. Abstract Nanopore direct RNA sequencing (DRS) has transformed transcriptomics by enabling single‐molecule, long‐read ...

Increased Adenovirus Infection in Rad18-Negative Cells

open access: yes, 2013
Rad18−/− MEFs show a greater susceptibility to infection with adenovirus expressing EGFP as a reporter as compared to wild type. Cells were infected with serial dilutions of adenovirus EGFP and assessed by flow cytometry 40–44 h after infection.

GSK3β drives early diabetic tubulopathy via TFEB‐mediated mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial dysfunction, including mitochondrial biogenesis, mitophagy, dynamics and oxidative stress, occurs in the early stages of diabetic tubulopathy, which precede proteinuria and renal histological changes. GSK3β is a potential novel biomarker for the prediction of diabetic tubulopathy.

Adenoviral Keratoconjunctivitis

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Medical Journal, 2007
Acute epibulbar infections in humans are one of the most frequently diagnosed eye diseases. The majority of these are thought to be caused by the adenovirus.

Juvenile Gangrenous Vasculitis of the Scrotum or Scrotum Lipschütz Ulcers

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lipschütz genital ulcers are traditionally described in adolescent females and often linked to acute viral infections. Their male counterpart remains poorly characterised. We report a 59‐year‐old man with sudden onset of unilateral necrotic ulcers on the scrotum and inguinal region following a brief febrile episode and mild pharyngitis ...
