Similarities in Dielectrophoretic and Electrophoretic Trap [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper was presented at the 4th Micro and Nano Flows Conference (MNF2014), which was held at University College, London, UK. The conference was organised by Brunel University and supported by the Italian Union of Thermofluiddynamics, IPEM, the ...

Path Integrals and Alternative Effective Dynamics in Loop Quantum Cosmology

open access: yes, 2012
The alternative dynamics of loop quantum cosmology is examined by the path integral formulation. We consider the spatially flat FRW models with a massless scalar field, where the alternative quantization inherit more features from full loop quantum ...

Enhancing Synaptic Plasticity and Multistate Retention of Organic Neuromorphic Devices Using Anion‐Excessive Gel Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 26, 30 March 2026.
Anion‐excessive gel‐based organic synaptic transistors (AEG‐OSTs) that can maintain electrical neutrality are developed to enhance synaptic plasticity and multistate retention. Key improvement is attributed to the maintenance of electrical neutrality in the electrolyte even after electrochemical doping, which reduces the Coulombic force acting on ...

Determinants of fibrinogen in an Italian population suffering from claudication. Lower fibrinogen in the south compared to middle and north of Italy. The ADEP Group. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Prospective studies have shown that high plasma levels of fibrinogen are independently associated with the risk of cardiovascular complications. In patients suffering from peripheral vascular disease (PVD) fibrinogen has been shown to be an independent ...

Non perturbative renormalization in coordinate space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We present an exploratory study of a gauge-invariant non-perturbative renormalization technique. The renormalization conditions are imposed on correlation functions of composite operators in coordinate space on the lattice.

Acyl depsipeptide (ADEP) resistance in Streptomyces

open access: yesMicrobiology, 2011
ADEP, a molecule of the acyl depsipeptide family, has an antibiotic activity with a unique mode of action. ADEP binding to the ubiquitous protease ClpP alters the structure of the enzyme. Access of protein to the ClpP proteolytic chamber is therefore facilitated and its cohort regulatory ATPases (ClpA, ClpC, ClpX) are not required.

Frontiers in the Management of Orthopaedic Periprosthetic Joint Infection

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a devastating complication of total joint arthroplasty (TJA), one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures worldwide. Management of acute PJI commonly involves debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention (DAIR), though failure rates remain high due to antibiotic‐tolerant biofilms. Chronic

Toward a Deterministic Model of Planetary Formation IV: Effects of Type-I Migration

open access: yes, 2007
In a further development of a deterministic planet-formation model (Ida & Lin 2004), we consider the effect of type-I migration of protoplanetary embryos due to their tidal interaction with their nascent disks.

New Results From Lattice QCD: Non-Perturbative Renormalization and Quark Masses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
For the first time, we compute non-perturbatively, i.e. without lattice perturbation theory, the renormalization constants of two-fermion operators in the quenched approximation at $\beta=6.0$, 6.2 and 6.4 using the Wilson and the tree-level improved SW ...

Proximity to seabird colonies and water availability shape moss distributions in Antarctica

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2026, Issue 1, January 2026.
Understanding species distributions across Antarctica is crucial for biodiversity conservation under climate change, but continental‐scale analyses of key terrestrial species remain scarce. Here, we modelled distributions of 28 moss species across Antarctica using log‐Gaussian Cox process models and environmental covariates including topographic ...
