Effect of photoageing and plasticizer content on the mechanical and adhesive properties of polyvinylbutyral

open access: yes, 2008
The objective of this study is to characterize the mechanical and adhesive properties of polyvinylbutyral and determine the effect of plasticizer content and photoageing on these properties.

Synthesis and Properties of Waterborne Polyurethane (WBPU)/Modified Lignin Amine (MLA) Adhesive: A Promising Adhesive Material

open access: yes, 2016
A series of waterborne polyurethane (WBPU)/modified lignin amine (MLA) adhesives was prepared using MLA as a chain extender by a prepolymer mixing process. A successful Mannich reaction was achieved during the synthesis of MLA by reacting lignin with bis(

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Performance of Oriented Strand Board Bonded with a Hybrid Phenol-Formaldehyde/Polymeric Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate Adhesives System

open access: yesBioResources
A hybrid adhesive system composed of phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin and polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (pMDI), modified with two types of alkaline catalysts, namely NaOH and CaCO3 at 20% (w/v), was used for manufacturing the oriented strand ...

Sensitivity of bending stiffness to moisture content in adhesive-free wooden-doweled cross-laminated timber panels [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite the rapid commercial success of cross-laminated timber (CLT) in the past decade, largely thanks to its excellent thermal and structural performance, the use of synthetic adhesives still raises sustainability concerns, in particular with respect ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Adhesion performance of a universal adhesive in the root canal: Effect of irrigation/adhesive protocol v2

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose: Universal adhesives are new systems that can be used in etch-and-rinse (ER) and self-etch (SE) modes. This in vitro study evaluated the bonding performance of a universal adhesive in ER mode and SE mode with two irrigants for luting fiber posts ...
