Adipokinetic hormone and AKH-like peptide demonstrated in the corpora cardiaca and nervous system of Locusta migratoria by immunocytochemistry

Cell and Tissue Research, 1983
An antiserum was raised against tyrosine-adipokinetic hormone ([Tyr1]-AKH). In immunohistochemical procedures, it revealed the AKH cells in the glandular lobes of the corpora cardiaca (CC) of Locusta migratoria with high specificity. In addition, an immunologically related peptide was detected in certain neurons of the central nervous system which ...

Corrigendum to “Adipokinetic hormones (AKHs) of sphingid Lepidoptera, including the identification of a second M. sexta AKH” [Peptides 34 (2012) 44–50]

Peptides, 2012
The authors regret that in the Abstract we incorrectly described the sequence of Manse-AKH. The correct sequence should have been ELTFTSSWGamide, as elsewhere in the document. Further, we incorrectly stated in the Abstract that the structure of this AKH was lucidated from peptides leached out of the CC of adult M.

Isolation and Characterization ofMelanoplus sanguinipesAdipokinetic Hormone: A New Member of the AKH/RPCH Family

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1997
A neuropeptide hormone isolated from corpora cardiaca of Melanoplus sanguinipes was purified by HPLC. The HPLC fractions were examined for adipokinetic activity with an in vivo bioassay. A single large UV absorbent peak was active in the mobilization of lipid while the other HPLC fractions showed no detectable activity.

The African froghopper Ptyelus flavescens (suborder: Cicadomorpha) contains two novel and one known peptides of the adipokinetic hormone (AKH) family: structure, function and comparison with aphid AKH (suborder: Sternorrhyncha)

Amino Acids, 2017
The rationale of "green pesticides" in food security is to use information about endogenous hormones of pest insects to make peptide mimetics that will act against the pest insects to alter their behaviour or physiology, while taking care not to harm beneficial insects or other organisms in the food chain.

Rapid and efficient sequence determination of a 4 nmol sample of adipokinetic hormone I (AKH I) using FAB tandem mass spectrometry

Biological Mass Spectrometry, 1985
Fast atom bombardment mass spectrometery in conjunction with tandem mass spectrometry provided the unambiguous sequence determination of the adipokinetic hormone I. The amount of sample needed is of the order less than or equal to 4 nmol, and the complete analysis is performed in less than 4 h.

Immunocytochemical differentiation between adipokinetic hormone (AKH)-like peptides in neurons and glandular cells in the corpus cardiacum of Locusta migratoria and Periplaneta americana with C-terminal and N-terminal specific antisera to AKH

Cell and Tissue Research, 1986
An immunocytochemical method was used to differentiate between immunoreactive substances in glandular cells in the corpora cardiaca (CC) and in certain cerebral neurons in 2 insect species, Locusta migratoria migratorioides and Periplaneta americana. The staining properties of antisera raised to different parts of the decapeptide adipokinetic hormone ...

Effects of Adipokinetic Hormone/Red Pigment-Concentrating Hormone (AKH/RPCH) Family of Peptides on Uterine Contraction

2020
Objective: Many processes in insects, including metabolic, behavioral, developmental, and reproductive processes, are altered by neuropeptides. Adipokinetic hormone/red pigment-concentrating hormone (AKH/RPCH) family of peptides include adipokinetic and hypertrehalosemic peptides.
