Macrophage PABPC4‐SPP1 Axis Orchestrates Immunosuppression in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the CRC microenvironment, macrophage PABPC4 binds to the 3′UTR of SPP1 mRNA to stabilize its expression, thereby sustaining M2‐like immunosuppressive macrophage polarization. Concurrently, this axis suppresses CD8+ T cell effector functions via CD44 signaling, collectively fostering an immunosuppressive niche that drives tumor progression.

RIP140 represses the “Brown-in-White” adipocyte program including a futile cycle of triacyclglycerol breakdown and synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Receptor-interacting protein 140 (RIP140) is a corepressor of nuclear receptors that is highly expressed in adipose tissues. We investigated the role of RIP140 in conditionally immortal preadipocyte cell lines prepared from white or brown fat depots.

Matrix Stiffness Orchestrates Mesenchymal Stem Cell Lineage Commitment Toward Osteogenesis and Adipogenesis Through the PIEZO1/SP1/STC2 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Matrix stiffness directs mesenchymal stem cell lineage commitment through PIEZO1‐dependent activation of the SP1/STC2 pathway. Stiff matrices favor osteogenesis and suppress adipogenesis, whereas the loss of PIEZO1 function impairs early bone formation. STC2 retains lineage‐regulatory activity even when PIEZO1 is inactive.

GSTM4 Suppresses Prostate Cancer Progression by Targeting TRIM27‐mediated ACLY Ubiquitination and Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
GSTM4 enhances the interaction between ACLY and the E3 ubiquitin ligase TRIM27, thereby increasing K48‐linked ubiquitination at the K554 site of ACLY and promoting its degradation. Consequently, GSTM4 regulates lipid synthesis, as well as the proliferation and metastasis of PCa cells, by modulating ACLY stability.

Regulation of Autophagy-Related Protein and Cell Differentiation by High Mobility Group Box 1 Protein in Adipocytes

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2016
High mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) is a molecule related to the development of inflammation. Autophagy is vital to maintain cellular homeostasis and protect against inflammation of adipocyte injury.

Adipose tissue derived factors in obesity, inflammation & energy homeostasis [PDF]

open access: yes
Obesity is the foremost contributory factor in the progression to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Moreover, chronic inflammation, through activation of innate immunity is proposed to link obesity, insulin resistance and T2DM.

THSD7A Exacerbates Atherosclerosis via Activation of Signaling Axis αvβ3/CEBPD/IL1A

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
THSD7A exerts pro‐inflammatory effects and exacerbates atherosclerosis. Mechanistically, THSD7A regulates endothelial cell inflammation and atherosclerosis by activating the αvβ3/CEBPD/IL1A signaling axis. THSD7A is not only a genetic marker but also a potential therapeutic target for coronary artery disease (CAD).

Oxidative stress accumulates in adipose tissue during aging and inhibits adipogenesis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Aging constitutes a major independent risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes and is accompanied by insulin resistance and adipose tissue dysfunction.

Heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor inhibits adipocyte differentiation at commitment and early induction stages.

open access: yes, 2008
Adipocytokines, bioactive molecules secreted from adipose tissues, play important roles in physiology, development, and disease. Recently, heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HB-EGF) was identified as an adipocytokine whose ...

The Adipose‐Sympathetic Nerve Crosstalk: FSTL1 as an Adipocyte‐Derived Neurotrophic Factor for WAT Browning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a novel adipose‐derived neurotrophic factor, Follistatin‐like 1 is endocytosed by sympathetic neurons primarily via tropomyosin‐related kinase B. This process promotes sympathetic innervation in adipose tissue and norepinephrine release, leading to white adipose tissue browning, enhanced thermogenesis, and anti‐obesity effects in mice.
