Adipose Differentiation-Related Protein Has Two Independent Domains for Targeting to Lipid Droplets
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2003Adipose differentiation-related protein (ADRP) is a protein found in lipid droplets of many cell types. In contrast to several other proteins localized to lipid droplets, ADRP does not have a long hydrophobic domain. We investigated as to which portion of the molecule is important for localization to pre-existing lipid droplets.

Induction of the Adipose Differentiation-Related Protein in Liver of Etomoxir-Treated Rats
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1996The effects of etomoxir, an irreversible carnitine palmitoyltransferase I inhibitor, on the liver protein pattern and on liver morphology were examined by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis in female Sprague-Dawley rats treated with 125 mg/kg/day etomoxir for 28 days.

Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, 2008
Background: Adipose differentiation‐related protein (ADRP) is a lipid droplet‐associated protein that coats cytoplasmic lipid droplets. The present study evaluated whether alcohol feeding enhances ADRP expression and whether ADRP is a lipid droplet marker in alcoholic fatty liver of rats.

Tissue-specific expression of the chicken adipose differentiation-related protein (ADP) gene
Molecular Biology Reports, 2009Adipose differentiation-related protein gene (ADP) plays an important role in controlling lipid accumulation in mammals. It may also affect lipid deposition in birds. However, the molecular mechanism of its actions in birds remains unknown. In the present study, the coding sequence of ADP cDNA for Chinese native breed Sichuan Mountainous Black-bone ...

SummaryADRPplays an important role in regulating lipid storage in various cells. We investigated theADRPgene as a candidate gene for intramuscular fat deposition and marbling traits in pigs. A full‐length transcript of porcineADRPwas cloned by RT‐PCR and RACE.

Aortic Carboxypeptidase-Like Protein Enhances Adipose Tissue Stromal Progenitor Differentiation Into Myofibroblasts and Is Upregulated in Fibrotic White Adipose Tissue [PDF]
White adipose tissue expands through both adipocyte hypertrophy and hyperplasia and it is hypothesized that fibrosis or excess accumulation of extracellular matrix within adipose tissue may limit tissue expansion contributing to metabolic dysfunction ...

Lipid droplets are cytoplasmic organelles which serve as storage sites for neutral lipids. Adipose differentiation-related protein (ADRP) is intrinsically associated with the surface of lipid droplets and is believed to play a major role in the maintenance of lipid stores in non-adipocytes.

Regulation of Intracellular Lipid Storage and Adipose Differentiation-Related Protein (ADRP)
2009Adipose differentiation-related protein (ADRP) is a major protein localized at the lipid droplets in macrophage-derived foam cells or liver cells. However, the role of ADRP during regression of lipid-storing cells has not been understood. When J774 macrophages were incubated for 3 days with VLDL, their content of ADRP and triacylglycerol (TG) increased

The function of adipose differentiation-related protein (ADRP) is known to be the uptake of long-chain fatty acids and formation of lipid droplets in lipid-accumulating cells. We hypothesized that ADRP might stimulate activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) to accumulate lipids, resulting in their transition to the quiescent state.

[The progress of adipose differentiation-related protein].
Sheng li ke xue jin zhan [Progress in physiology], 2014Cellular lipid droplets are active organelles. Lipid droplet-associated proteins play an important role in lipid droplet metabolism. ADRP is the major lipid-droplet associated protein presents in almost all cells that accumulate lipids. Fatty liver, atherosclerosis, diabetes and other metabolic diseases are all accompanied with excess intracellular ...
