The adjuvanticity of gamma inulin

Immunology & Cell Biology, 1988
SummaryGamma‐inulin (g‐IN) is a polymorph identified as the active component of inulin preparations that specifically activates the alternative pathway of complement (APC). The APC is central to many leucocyte functions, including B cell activation. We show here that g‐IN, when formulated as a pure, endotoxin‐free, fine suspension insoluble at 37°C and

Adjuvanticity of Vitamin A

Nature, 1968
Vitamin A may act as an adjuvant through its effect in damaging lysosomal membranes, in this way stimulating cell division. Possibly this stimulation of cell division at the time when antigen is available in the cell leads to the induction of immunity and not paralysis.

Adjuvantation of epidermal powder immunization

Vaccine, 2001
The skin is an immunologically active site and an attractive vaccination route. All current vaccines, however, are administered either orally, intramuscularly, or subcutaneously. We previously reported that epidermal powder immunization (EPI) with an extremely small dose of powdered influenza vaccine induces protective immunity in mice.

Adjuvanticity and Arthritogenicity of Silicone

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1993
Potential adjuvanticity and arthritogenicity of silicone obtained from a mammary implant were investigated. Silicone, injected intraperitoneally in conjunction with heat-killed Mycobacterium tuberculosis and EL4 cells (mouse tumor cell, H-2b), failed to enhance the development of immune response directed toward EL4 cells in Lewis rats.
