Recombinant Listeria promotes tumor rejection by CD8+ T cell-dependent remodeling of the tumor microenvironment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Agents that remodel the tumor microenvironment (TME), prime functional tumor-specific T cells, and block inhibitory signaling pathways are essential components of effective immunotherapy.

Two‐Year Follow‐Up of a Multidisciplinary Lifestyle Intervention for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective The Plants for Joints intervention (PFJ), including a whole‐food plant‐based diet, exercise, and stress reduction, reduced signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or metabolic syndrome‐associated hip or knee osteoarthritis (MSOA) compared to usual care. This study examined outcomes two years later. Methods After two 16‐week randomized

TLR5-dependent immunogenicity of a recombinant fusion protein containing an immunodominant epitope of malarial circumsporozoite protein and the FliC flagellin of Salmonella Typhimurium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Recently, we described the improved immunogenicity of new malaria vaccine candidates based on the expression of fusion proteins containing immunodominant epitopes of merozoites and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium flagellin (FliC) protein as an ...

Multifunctional Hydroxyapatite Coated with Gallium Liquid Metal‐Based Silver Nanoparticles for Infection Prevention and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.

UPDATE ON VACCINE DEVELOPMENT FOR RENAL CELL CANCER. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remains a significant health concern that frequently presents as metastatic disease at the time of initial diagnosis. Current first-line therapeutics in the advanced stage setting include anti-angiogenic drugs that have yielded

Strategies to Design and Optimize Artificial Antigen‐Presenting Cells for T Cell Expansion in Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in engineering artificial antigen‐presenting cells (aAPCs) as alternatives to dendritic cells for T cell expansion. Key design principles inspired by the immunological synapse are discussed, with emphasis on strategies for polyclonal and antigen‐specific T cell expansion.

Epicutaneous Application of CpG Oligodeoxynucleotides with Peptide or Protein Antigen Promotes the Generation of CTL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Immunostimulatory oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) are effective adjuvants in the induction of humoral and cellular immune responses when administered parenterally with antigen.

Immunosuppressive Cytokine‐Tethered Hydrogel for Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An injectable hydrogel is developed by chemically tethering IL‐4, an immunosuppressive cytokine, to a hyaluronic acid‐based backbone. The hydrogel reduces joint friction and exerts immunomodulatory effects. In a rheumatoid arthritis (RA) mouse model, it reduced inflammation, preserved cartilage, and promoted anti‐inflammatory immune responses.

Dynamic changes in cellular infiltrates with repeated cutaneous vaccination: a histologic and immunophenotypic analysis

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2010
Background Melanoma vaccines have not been optimized. Adjuvants are added to activate dendritic cells (DCs) and to induce a favourable immunologic milieu, however, little is known about their cellular and molecular effects in human skin.
