In an independent randomized trial of 242 women with PCR‐confirmed hrHPV infection, 3 months of silicon dioxide‐based vaginal gel did not improve hrHPV DNA non‐detectability compared with observation alone (18% vs. 21%). Patient‐reported adverse events were more frequent with gel (32% vs. 2%), and overall patient satisfaction was lower.
