Phylogenetic analysis of Viburnum (Adoxaceae) in Korea using DNA sequences [PDF]
The nucleotide sequences of the chloroplast rbcL, matK, and psbA-trnH and nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions were determined from all species of Viburnum in Korea with multiple accessions to reconstruct the phylogeny and to evaluate the utility of the DNA sequences as DNA barcodes.

We used DNA metabarcoding of 2,568 fecal samples to examine seasonal diets and resource partitioning among four deer species (moose, roe deer, red deer, fallow deer) across two Swedish landscapes. Deer consumed a wide range of plants, but diets were typically dominated by a few key taxa, with distinct dietary separation between moose and smaller deer ...

What is Sambucus mexicana (Adoxaceae)?
Inconsistent application of the name Sambucus mexicana C. Presl ex DC. has resulted in confusion in the literature and in herbaria. In order to determine the correct application of the name, Presl’s original material (a Haenke collection, made on the Malaspina Expedition) was located and characterized.

Application of chemometric analysis to infrared spectroscopy for the identification of wood origin [PDF]
Chemical characteristics of wood are used in this study for plant taxonomy classification based on the current Angiosperm Phylogeny Group classification (APG III System) for the division, class and subclass of woody plants.

Pest categorisation of Coccus viridis
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of Coccus viridis (Hemiptera: Coccidae), the green coffee scale, for the territory of the European Union (EU), following the commodity risk assessment of Jasminum polyanthum from Uganda, in which C. viridis was identified as a pest of possible concern to the EU.

Joining the locals: Plant invaders shift leaf defenses to match native neighbors
Abstract Local adaptation is common in invasive plants, but there is no consensus as to whether shifts in functional traits between invader “home” and “away” ranges contribute to their success in competition with native species. Theory based on enemy release suggests that invaders should reallocate limiting resources away from nutritive‐based defenses ...

Abstract Floral traits describe organs or structures directly related to plant reproduction, and they are essential to understanding plant–pollinator interactions, notably for conservation purposes. The growth of plant trait‐based approaches lies in the availability of data shared by the international research community on dedicated platforms, as well ...
