Integrative genomic and spatial transcriptomic analysis elucidates the oligodendrocyte‐mediated etiology of epileptic cortical thinning

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page 895-911, June 2026.
Abstract Objective Focal epilepsy is characterized by progressive cortical thinning, particularly within limbic structures; however, whether this atrophy reflects acquired seizure‐induced damage or shared genetic predisposition remains unresolved. Methods We integrated genome‐wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics from the ILAE Consortium ...

Dietary and biomarker‐guided strategies as supportive measures in the fragile X syndrome

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 237-251, June 2026.
Abstract The fragile X syndrome (FXS) is an inherited neurodevelopmental disorder that primarily affects males, often resulting in an IQ below 55, while about two‐thirds of females also experience intellectual disability. Physical features may include an elongated face, prominent ears, finger joint laxity, and enlarged testes in males.

KREO Prevents CUMS‐Induced Depressive‐Like Behavior via Modulation of the BDNF Signaling Pathway

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study showed that Chinese Kushui Rose Essential Oil (KREO) can alleviate depressive symptoms, increase voluntary activity, and enhance exploratory behavior in mice induced with chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) by elevating serotonin (5‐HT) levels and reducing hyperactivity of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis.

Associations between anxiety, somatic pain and sleep disturbances in major depressive disorder and chronic pain: A cross‐sectional study with gender‐specific insights

open access: yesGeneral Psychiatry, Volume 39, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Major depressive disorder (MDD) and chronic pain (CP) demonstrate marked sex disparities, with higher prevalence and severity in females. However, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Aims We aimed to examine the intricate interplay among anxiety, physical pain and sleep disruptions in inpatients with depression and ...

Tocilizumab and Dexamethasone Reduce TNF‐α and IL‐33 and Oxidative Stress in Kidney Tissue in Oleic Acid‐Induced ARDS Model

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
Oleic acid causes ARDS‐associated AKI. Tocilizumab and dexamethasone reduces ARDS‐induced kidney injury. The width of the filtration slits increases in kidney injury. Tocilizumab and dexamethasone suppress TNF‐a and IL‐33. ABSTRACT The most common extrapulmonary organ injury in cases of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is acute kidney injury (

Beyond the Known and Established Neurodegenerative Effects: Roles of APOE Across a Wide Spectrum of Pathophysiological Condition

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
APOE is widely recognized for its role in neurodegeneration and cardiovascular disease, but its different genotypes also influence body composition, affecting obesity, bone density, and muscle mass, through their central role in lipid transport and metabolism.
