Adrenal suppression in patients taking inhaled glucocorticoids is highly prevalent and management can be guided by morning cortisol [PDF]
Context Up to 3% of US and UK populations are prescribed glucocorticoids (GC). Suppression of the hypothalamo–pituitary–adrenal axis with the potential risk of adrenal crisis is a recognized complication of therapy. The 250 μg short Synacthen stimulation

Context associated with morphine withdrawal elicits an increase in serum corticosterone levels. Corticosterone participates in CTR‐MWM by acting on MR, but not GR, in the BLA. MR in BLA→NAcC neurons mediates CTR‐MWM. MR increases presynaptic glutamate release and meanwhile participates in D1 receptor‐induced increases in presynaptic glutamate release ...

Psychological stress activates the sympathetic–adrenal axis, elevating norepinephrine (NE) and suppressing reproductive hormones, thereby impairing male reproduction. Excess NE overactivates and desensitizes β‐adrenergic receptors (β‐ARs), triggering Sertoli cell ferroptosis and disrupting spermatogenesis.

This study demonstrates that patients with PCOS exhibit altered gut microbial profiles, and FMT from PCOS patients induces PCOS‐like symptoms in mice. Specifically, gut dysbiosis reduces 3‐HAA levels in the context of PCOS. Administration of 3‐HAA to mice alleviates PCOS by promoting de novo NAD+ synthesis.
