Expanding the Immunologic and Neuronal Landscape of IgE‐Mediated Anaphylaxis

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 337, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Anaphylaxis is a life‐threatening immunoglobulin E (IgE)‐mediated type I hypersensitivity reaction with rising prevalence and burden. It involves mast cell degranulation upon cross‐linking of antigen on mast cell‐bound IgE. Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated anaphylaxis remain incompletely understood, particularly the induction of systemic symptoms ...

Screening and Diagnosis of Primary Aldosteronism in Patients Using Renin‐Angiotensin System Inhibitors

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Hypertension, Volume 28, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigated whether patients receiving renin‐angiotensin system inhibitors (RASIs) can undergo reliable screening for primary aldosteronism (PA) without discontinuation of therapy. Consecutive patients with hypertension who underwent PA screening at our hospital between 2016 and 2024 while on RASIs were recruited.

Neurons in a Dish: A Review of In Vitro Cell Models for Studying Neurogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 170, Issue 1, January 2026.
Different in vitro cell models are valuable to study the different steps of neurogenesis, from the proliferation of neural stem and progenitor cells to the maturation of neurons. Pluripotent stem cells (including embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells), immortalized human neuroblastoma cell lines (SH‐SY5Y, IMR‐32), and primary brain ...

The gatekeepers of growth: The neural roles and regulation of growth hormone‐releasing hormone neurons

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 38, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The neuroendocrine control of growth is mediated by the hypothalamic–pituitary–somatic (HPS) axis. This involves the hypothalamic release of growth hormone‐releasing hormone (GHRH), which stimulates the pituitary secretion of growth hormone (GH).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Gastric Motility in Conscious Rats

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, Volume 38, Issue 1, January 2026.
By training rats to remain awake inside an MRI scanner, we can now noninvasively scan their gastrointestinal tracts without using anesthesia. This allows us to assess gastric motility and emptying in conscious rats without the various confounding effects that anesthesia might cause.

Perioperative management of septic peritonitis in small animals: A review

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, Volume 55, Issue 1, Page 39-58, January 2026.
Abstract Background Septic peritonitis (SP) is a complex, life‐threatening disease, driven by peritoneal inflammation and microbial contamination, requiring timely and dynamic perioperative management. Aims The aim of this review was to synthesize current knowledge on the perioperative management of SP in dogs and cats.
