Adult-plant resistance to Septoria tritici blotch in hexaploid spring wheat
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2015New QTL for Septoria tritici blotch detected in hexapoid spring wheat under field conditions across diverse environments. Septoria tritici blotch caused by the ascomycete fungus Zymoseptoria tritici presents a serious and consistent challenge to global wheat production.

Origin of leaf rust adult plant resistance gene Rph20 in barley
Genome, 2012Rph20 is the only reported, simply inherited gene conferring moderate to high levels of adult plant resistance (APR) to leaf rust ( Puccinia hordei Otth) in barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.). Key parental genotypes were examined to determine the origin of Rph20 in two-rowed barley.

Mapping Rph20: a gene conferring adult plant resistance to Puccinia hordei in barley
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2011A doubled haploid (DH) barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) population of 334 lines (ND24260 × Flagship) genotyped with DArT markers was used to map genes for adult plant resistance (APR) to leaf rust (Puccinia hordei Otth) under field conditions in Australia and Uruguay.

The identification of QTLs for adult plant resistance to leaf scald in barley
Australian Journal of Agricultural Research, 2006Barley leaf scald disease, caused by the fungal pathogen Rhynchosporium secalis, can be economically damaging, causing both yield losses and lower quality from reduced grain size. Most genetic studies of scald resistance have concentrated on seedling reactions either because of a lack of access to field screening resources or else because of the more ...

Identification of wheat genotypes with adult plant resistance to powdery mildew
Cereal Research Communications, 2006As in the case of other wheat diseases, adult plant resistance (APR) to powdery mildew remains effective longer than monogenic hypersensitive resistance, so the objective was to identify winter wheat genotypes with this type of resistance. Field and greenhouse tests conducted on 41 varieties and breeding lines indicated that 36 were susceptible in the ...

Adult-Plant Resistance to Powdery Mildew in Knox 62 Wheat
Cereal Research Communications, 2003Quantitative adult-plant resistance is an alternative for short-lived single major-gene resistance in the control of wheat powdery mildew caused by Blumeria graminis (DC) E.O. Speer. Cultivar ‘Knox 62’ is known to have adult-plant resistance to powdery mildew, but the relationship between the genes conferring its resistance and corresponding ...

Components of adult plant resistance to leaf rust in wheat
Euphytica, 1993Winter wheat genotypes were tested for resistance in the field by assessing the percentage sporulating leaf area after infection with wheat leaf rust. The disease level in the first field trial was too low for selection. In the second field trial a low sporulating leaf area was found on several genotypes showing a susceptible infection type.

Wheat mutants showing altered adult plant disease resistance
Euphytica, 2001Wheat mutants, selected on an altered resistance phenotype to Puccinia striiformis f.sp. tritici, the causal agent of yellow rust, were assessed in greenhouse tests to determine the growth stage at which the mutant phenotype was expressed and which components of yellow rust resistance were altered.

Analysis of quantitative adult plant resistance to blackleg in Brassica napus
Molecular Breeding, 2019Leptosphaeria maculans L. causing blackleg is a highly evolved fungal pathogen that damages the rapeseed industry in Canada, Australia, and Europe. Advanced backcross populations segregating for intermediate resistance (BLMR2) and susceptible (blmr2) alleles were planted and inoculated using cotyledons.

Adult-plant resistance to yellow rust in wild emmer wheat
Netherlands Journal of Plant Pathology, 1988Seventy-six entries of wild emmer, susceptible to a culture of yellow rust, race 39E134, in the seedling stage at a low temperature-profile, were tested with the same culture for field resistance at two locations in the Netherlands. While most entries were susceptible also in the adult-plant stage, 15 showed an intermediate or resistant infection-type ...
