Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a multifactorial condition underpinned by complex molecular mechanisms. This review highlights advances in RNA sequencing and multi‐omics approaches that have elucidated gene regulatory networks, cellular heterogeneity, and progenitor cell dynamics in the nucleus pulposus.
