Abundance and distribution of California sea lions (Zalophus californianus) in central and northern California during 1998 and summer 1999 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The abundance and distribution of California sea lions (Zalophus californianus) in central and northern California was studied to allow future evaluation of their impact on salmonids, the ecosystem, and f isheries.

HASL AERIAL SURVEY SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yes, 1957
Radioactive debris from nuclear detonations may fall out over an extensive area. A rapid evaluation of the distribution of such surface contamination cam be obtained by an aircraft mounted detector. The gamma field measured in the aircraft can be related to the intensity on the ground.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Simulating carnivore movements: An occupancy–abundance relationship for surveying wolves

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 2012
Where carnivore species exist at low densities, are cryptic, and inhabit forested habitats where detection is low, survey approaches commonly rely on observation of tracks.

Sea turtle nesting in the Ten Thousand Islands of Florida [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) nest in numerous substrate and beach types within the Ten Thousand Islands (TTl) of southwest Florida. Nesting beach selection was analyzed on 12 islands within this archipelago.

The survey of the Basilica di Collemaggio in L’Aquila with a system of terrestrial imaging and most proven techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The proposed job concerns the evaluation of a series of surveys carried out in the context of a campaign of studies begun in 2015 with the objective of comparing the accuracies obtainable with the systems of terrestrial imaging, compared to unmanned ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Seasonal habitat‐based density models for a marine top predator, the harbor porpoise, in a dynamic environment

open access: yesEcosphere, 2016
Effective species conservation and management requires information on species distribution patterns, which is challenging for highly mobile and cryptic species that may be subject to multiple anthropogenic stressors across international boundaries ...
