Further studies on the stimulation of glycolysis by previous aerobiosis [PDF]

open access: greenBiochemical Journal, 1967
1. A short period of incubation in oxygen increases the rate of anaerobic glycolysis in all the normal adult tissues that have been tested, with the exception of erythrocytes. 2. This stimulation does not occur in the six different tumours and in the two embryonic tissues that have been studied. 3.

The stimulation of glycolysis by previous aerobiosis in rat-liver slices [PDF]

open access: greenBiochemical Journal, 1966
1. An investigation has been made on the stimulation of the anaerobic glycolysis by rat-liver slices caused by previous incubation in oxygen. 2. The stimulation is sustained partly by endogenous carbohydrates and partly by added glucose. The effect of glucose reaches a maximum at a concentration of 20mm; it is more pronounced when glucose is present in

Type II alveolar epithelial cell in vitro culture in aerobiosis [PDF]

open access: bronzeEuropean Respiratory Journal, 1988
A method of Type II alveolar epithelial cell culture in aerobiosis has been developed. Isolation of Type II cells was performed by digesting guinea-pig lung tissue with crude trypsin and elastase and using discontinuous Percoll density gradients. The Type II cells, as identified by light and electron microscopy, were cultured in aerobiosis for up to ...

Identification and antimicrobial susceptibility profile of bacteria isolated from primary endodontic infections [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research
This study aimed to identify and characterize the antimicrobial susceptibility profile of bacteria found in primary endodontic infections in the teeth of patients treated at the Dental Clinic of the University of Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil.

Effects of Membrane-Acting Drugs and Aerobiosis on Production of Streptolysin S and Nuclease in Hemolytic Streptococci [PDF]

open access: hybridZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 1984
Abstract Yield of streptolysin S (SLS) in streptococcal culture was considerably reduced by procaine, dibucaine, atropine or chlorpromazine at concentrations which scarecely affected production of an extracellular nuclease as well as the bacterial growth. Cerulenin was also inhibitory to SLS formation, but its effect was more pronounced

Investigations on in vitro survival and virulence of T. pallidum under aerobiosis. [PDF]

open access: greenSexually Transmitted Infections, 1975
Motility of pathogenic T. pallidum was maintained in aerobic in vitro cultures for several weeks using a special medium. The latter consisted of McCoy's 5a medium supplemented with glutathione, sodium pyruvate, HEPES buffer, gentamycin (garamycin), and fetal calf serum. The virulence of the organisms was lost in 5 to 6 days.
