The stimulation of glycolysis by previous aerobiosis in rat-liver slices [PDF]
1. An investigation has been made on the stimulation of the anaerobic glycolysis by rat-liver slices caused by previous incubation in oxygen. 2. The stimulation is sustained partly by endogenous carbohydrates and partly by added glucose. The effect of glucose reaches a maximum at a concentration of 20mm; it is more pronounced when glucose is present in

Investigations on in vitro survival and virulence of T. pallidum under aerobiosis. [PDF]
Motility of pathogenic T. pallidum was maintained in aerobic in vitro cultures for several weeks using a special medium. The latter consisted of McCoy's 5a medium supplemented with glutathione, sodium pyruvate, HEPES buffer, gentamycin (garamycin), and fetal calf serum. The virulence of the organisms was lost in 5 to 6 days.

Type II alveolar epithelial cell in vitro culture in aerobiosis [PDF]
A method of Type II alveolar epithelial cell culture in aerobiosis has been developed. Isolation of Type II cells was performed by digesting guinea-pig lung tissue with crude trypsin and elastase and using discontinuous Percoll density gradients. The Type II cells, as identified by light and electron microscopy, were cultured in aerobiosis for up to ...

Proteins induced by aerobiosis in Escherichia coli [PDF]
The role of protein induction and repression in the adaptation of Escherichia coli to changes in the supply of oxygen and other electron acceptors is only poorly understood. We have studied the changes in cellular protein composition associated with this adaptation by measuring the levels of 170 individual polypeptides produced during aerobic or ...

Infections caused by Mycobacterium abscessus (Mab), an environmental non-tuberculous mycobacterium, are difficult to eradicate from patients with pulmonary diseases such as cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis even after years of antibiotic treatments.
